Excerpts From Dr. Usui’s Manuscripts

The following are a series of Usui’s original manuscripts, letters and commentary on Reiki. These have been given with the kind permission of Lama Yeshe to further broaden the understanding of Reiki as it was taught in 19lh Century Japan. Contained within the black lacquered box that came into the possession of Lama Yeshe, are countless documents and instructions of the original Reiki system. It includes the ‘Tantra of the Lightning Flash’, the spiritual methodology, Usui’s practice of Reiki, countless techniques, practices and advice on healing, as well as personal anecdotes and stories of his daily experiences. Much of the inner teachings of the system cannot be presented within this written format as they require initiation and a level of understanding that comes from training in Buddhist and Shingon traditions.

However, the following is a letter that was attached to the ‘Ta of the Lightning Flash’ that describes Usui’s views o day and some insight into how Usui came into teaching of Reiki. It also conveys Usui as a man clearly holds a depth of accomplishment with practice.
