Hold the vitamin
Popping vitamin pills without a doctor’s okay isn’t a good idea. An overdose can cause toxicity, enlargement of the liver or spleen, and skin or bone probÂems. The Indian Council of Medical Research recommends an optimum dose for water-soluble (B and C) and fat-soluble (A, D, E and K) vitamins -exact amounts vary with medical profile. Excess water-soluble vitamins may be excreted in sweat and urine, but fat-soluble ones are likely to deposit in body fat, alter metabolism and even lead to weight gain!
