MORAL PRECEPTS FOR REIKI PRACTITIONERS, BY DR. USUI
These moral precepts were adapted by Dr. Usui. Their origins are Shin (Pure Land) Buddhism and were written by Ippen (1239-1289) and are known as “Jishu Seikai” — Precepts for the Followers of the Timely Teachings.
These precepts remind oneself of the various aspects of the spiritual path. The emphasis with these precepts is to develop mindfulness, awareness and compassionate service to all beings.”
There are 26 precepts for cultivating morality:
1Devoutly revere the Buddha, the Law, and the Teachers.
2Do not forget the power of meditation. Devoutly practice the mantra.
3 Do not engage in superfluous disciplines.
4Devoutly trust the Law of Compassion.
5Do not denounce the creed of others.
