CHARACTER OF THE REIKI PRACTITIONER
CHARACTER OF THE REIKI PRACTITIONER
When one’s mind is unsettled and worrying over other things; dwelling on interpersonal relationships, dwelling on the bill collector bringing the legal officials to the door, dwelling on the landlord throwing one out the door of one’s dwelling, worrying about one’s possessions being taken by creditors, worrying about one’s wife having sex with someone else, worrying about one’s husband having sex with someone else, worrying about having sex with someone else; all of these are distractions.
If one has these distractions, one is not able to practice the tantra with the proper clarity of mind and with full efficiency. So before practicing healing others, it is necessary to heal one’s own life and to bring stability into one’s life. So this must be kept in mind. If you see a student, no matter how sincere, that is having all of these problems, it is proper to give Refuge, but it is not proper to give initiation beyond first level. So the person’s living must be stable. I am not saying that they must have money and a nice house and so on. They could be a mendicant, traveling the world for the benefit of beings. But they are doing that because they chose to, not because the landlord has put them out of the door or because the prefecture police are looking for them. They could be poor, they could be rich, and they could be in the middle.
